The City Singers - The City Choir of Washington’s engagement chorus

Information for Current and Prospective Members

The City Singers, the City Choir's engagement ensemble, is directed by Assistant Conductor Katie Jagielski and managed by S1 Lani Kanakry. We bring Broadway tunes, spirituals, Great American Songbook standards and more to retirement communities, homeless shelters, and military retirement homes throughout the metro region – and to Washington, DC’s historic Willard Hotel at Christmas time! 

We’d love to have you join us – all City Choir singers and alumni are welcome! We rehearse holiday music in the fall, and perform several times in December, and we rehearse in January for our regular repertoire, presented roughly once a month from February through June. Rehearsals are at Holy Transfiguration Church in McLean, VA (if driving is inconvenient, carpools can usually be arranged, or a pickup from the nearby Spring Hill Metro station on the Silver Line).

And we’re flexible – no one is expected to make every rehearsal, or every performance! Nor do you need to buy any music; scores are borrowed (and PDFs are available for tablet users). 

So, let us know if you’d like to help our cheerful group spread harmony and joy, and we’ll be sure to have music for you!
