Give the City Choir a Standing Ovation – Become a Donor!
As with other arts organizations, ticket sales cover only a small portion of the costs of presenting compelling performances. From renting rehearsal and performance spaces to hiring professional instrumentalists and vocal soloists and obtaining orchestral scores, we face a wide range of necessary expenses. We are fortunate to have a loyal band of contributors who help to defray these costs, and we hope you will consider joining them by supporting the City Choir in whatever way works best for you. Here are some examples:
Online Donation
It’s quick and easy to make an online donation – either a one-time donation or a recurring donation at whatever interval you choose – and you can choose to make your donation in honor or memory of someone special. And unless you wish to remain anonymous, we will gratefully acknowledge your generous donation in our concert programs, in the appropriate category as shown below. Just click DONATE to get started!
Donation by Mail
We also welcome donations of any amount by check or credit card, mailed to us at:
The City Choir of Washington, P.O. Box 9673, Washington, DC 20016
You can download a convenient form to complete before mailing in your donation, right here.
Stock Donations
There can be tax advantages to making a stock or bond donation, since the full fair market value of the stock or bond at the time of the donation may be deductible (consult your tax advisor for specifics under current tax law). For details of how to make a stock or bond donation to the City Choir, please contact the City Choir Treasurer.

Become a Season Underwriter
Several dozen of our most loyal supporters have stepped forward to become Season Underwriters, at the full-season or half-season level, and we simply could not do what we do without their steadfast support. They enjoy an annual springtime retreat by the Chesapeake Bay for dinner and a sneak preview from the Artistic Director of what’s planned for the upcoming season. We would like to cordially invite you to consider joining their ranks. To find out more or to make a pledge of support (which can be paid at your convenience in one of several ways), just click the button, or contact our Season Underwriter Liaison.
Season Underwriters are prominently acknowledged on our website, in concert program booklets, and in publications such as the patron newsletter, Allegro.

Join the Fermata Society to Leave an Enduring Legacy
To ensure a lasting legacy of your love of great music, consider becoming a charter member of the City Choir’s Fermata Society by naming the City Choir in your will or estate plans. Just as a musical fermata sustains the duration of a sound, the Fermata Society will help sustain the City Choir’s music-making well into the future.
Fermata Society Members will receive a special lapel pin to display at concerts and other events, and will be acknowledged on the website, in concert program booklets, and in other choir publications, unless they choose to remain anonymous.
Bequests and gifts can be made through many instruments, including a will, insurance policy or retirement account beneficiary designation, or donor advised funds. Please contact the Fermata Society Coordinator with any questions, or to express your interest in joining the Fermata Society.
Party with a Purpose
A thoroughly enjoyable way to support the City Choir is by celebrating with us at our lively and memorable annual benefit, the “Party with a Purpose,” which sparkles with creativity, mixing good food and drink, good music and good people together with prizes and surprises, and a chance to widen our circle of friends.
So please plan to join us for a great evening in support of the City Choir and all its activities. But don’t wait too long to get your tickets – they’re a bargain, and this event is expected to sell out!
Other Ways to Support the City Choir!
There are many other ways you can support the City Choir! Here are a few:
Volunteer to be an Usher at one of our concerts. In exchange for your help in making sure the audience finds their seats and gets a program booklet, you’ll get to enjoy the concert! If you’d like to join our roster of potential ushers, please contact our Usher Coordinator.
Organize a group to come to one of our concerts. Are you a born organizer? If you organize a group of ten or more of your friends to come to one of our concerts, your ten or more friends will get a 10% discount on their tickets, and we’ll throw in a free ticket for you! For more information, please contact our Group Sales Coordinator.
