The City Singers
The City Singers - The City Choir of Washington’s engagement chorus
Led by City Choir’s Assistant Conductor Kathleen Jagielski, City Singers is the flagship engagement program of City Choir.
City Singers believe in the power of music to connect communities.
The City Choir’s volunteer engagement chorus brings upbeat and heartfelt programs of American standards, spirituals, jazz arrangements, holiday favorites, and Broadway tunes to homeless shelters, military retirement homes, independent living communities, government hospitals, and assisted living facilities throughout the greater Washington region.
City Singers share the inspiration of music and the joy of service.
Audience members become energized, sing along, clap to the beat, and sometimes weep from emotion. The singers—not always dry-eyed themselves—find it especially rewarding to chat with the audience after a show, and to bring music to people who may be unable to attend regular City Choir concerts.
City Singers celebrate in style.
To conclude their fall schedule, the City Singers annually offer a holiday present to the entire community, with two public performances in December at the historic Willard Hotel in downtown Washington.
