Lauren Maho, mezzo-soprano
Based in Richmond, Virginia, Albanian-American mezzo soprano Lauren Maho will graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance. This fall, Lauren will begin pursuing her Master of Music degree in Voice and Opera at the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University, where she will study with Professor Theresa Brancaccio.
Lauren has been a dedicated member of the VCU Opera and choral departments as a performer and stage manager. Recent roles include Billie/Ensemble in Michael Ching's Speed Dating Tonight, Madame de la Haltière in Massenet's Cendrillon (in English), and partial roles of Carmen (Carmen) and Dame Quickly (Falstaff in English) in fall scenes.
Lauren was also the mezzo soloist for Mozart’s Requiem with VCU Symphony and Choirs in December 2024. Lauren has also worked with Virginia Opera, singing in the chorus of two workshops of Damien Geter’s Loving v. Virginia, which is set to make its world premiere this May. An avid competitor, Lauren has participated in several competitions, including finalist in the Schmidt Vocal Arts Undergraduate Competition, winning the Williamsburg Choral Guild Young Artist Competition, qualifying for NSA Auditions and placing 3rd with Honors at Mid-Atlantic Regional NATS, and more. Off-campus, Lauren serves as Alto Choral Scholar and Youth Choir Conductor at River Road Baptist Church in Henrico, VA.
Lauren is a voice student of Margaret Taylor Woods and coaching student of Melanie Kohn Day.
