Covid Safety

We are following the public health situation carefully and will update safety requirements as necessary. Please address any questions to Board President David Flaxman at davidrflaxman@gmail.com.

The board voted to adopt a new Covid policy beginning March 27, and masking is currently optional. However, as cases are rising in the DC metro area this fall, we strongly recommend that singers mask in rehearsals, and get the new Covid vaccine this October if they are eligible.

Given continued low transmission rates, City Choir will:

  • Maintain the current vaccine requirement: Singers must be fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means 2 Pfizer shots, 2 Moderna shots, or one J&J shot plus, in each case, an approved booster. If eligible, singers are urged, but not required, to get a second booster.

  • Relax the 3 absence rule for those who are ill. Clearly state that this is to prevent spread of infection, and ask people to not take advantage of the Zoom option.

  • We as an organization feel strongly that anyone may mask if they so choose at any time.

  • Be sensitive about seating placement for those who are uncomfortable, and in certain situations (such as power circles), even the mask optional people will be asked to mask. Seating charts will be created for the entire rehearsal cycle.

  • Any rehearsals outside may be mask optional (without consideration of the Georgetown rule)

  • Go back to required masking if Covid rates in the Metropolitan DC area rise significantly. The board will continue to monitor the situation.

Masks:

For greatest protection, we recommend that singers who wear masks use the following masks: N95; KN95; KF94; the Resonance 95 Singers Mask; the Airgami mask. Black masks (including the black airgami as shown) are required for concerts.
