Celebrate Spring with the City Choir of Washington's Virtual Auction!

"Blossom by blossom the spring begins" - Algernon Charles Swinburne

Thank you, City Choir Friends & Family, for making our first ever online auction a rousing success!

Check out the video (above) featuring some of our exciting auction items!

City Choir’s online Silent Auction opens for bidding the first day of spring, Saturday, March 20. From the comfort of your own home, you can view and bid on more than 70 fun and exciting items! The auction will run for a full week and culminate in a virtual get-together showcasing never-before-seen clips from TCCW’s unforgettable 2013 Diamond Jubilee concert at Washington National Cathedral, and a Live Auction of very special items on Saturday, March 27.

The auction features getaways (travel options that are suitable for now, or for the future), including the ever popular week-long stay at “Casa Antonelli” in Costa Rica; a Northern Michigan resort (for up to 18 people – perfect for a post-pandemic family reunion!); weekend getaways in Virginia Wine Country and at the historic Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C.; and even a South African safari!

Since our original 2020 fundraising gala was scheduled to take place at the Arts Club of Washington – until Covid struck – it is fitting that the virtual auction will feature a number of outstanding artistic lots, each piece being completely unique and created by a different artist or crafter.

New this year are “Buy-A-Line” items: the chance to win fabulous prizes, such as a new Apple Watch Series 6 and gift cards! Similar to a raffle, you buy one or more of a limited number of chances: the winners will be announced during the Live Auction.

There is an array of items that showcase the skills of TCCW singers – a beautiful music-themed patchwork quilt; a full set of all seven of Anne Harding Woodworth’s books of poetry; a folk-song singalong with bass Jeff Jenkins; fresh roasted coffee; and home-baked delicacies.

And don’t miss the unique experiences, gifts, and fine dining on offer, such as a makeup lesson with Michelle Obama’s makeup artist, Carl Ray; voice lessons; beautiful jewelry and objets d’art; a Scottish-themed basketful of goodies; and fine dining experiences at the French Embassy’s restaurant Le Petit Bouchon, the Annapolis Yacht Club, and many more.

There really is something to please everyone and every budget. While some items are available only within the Greater Washington area, many can be shipped anywhere—so join in the fun (and fundraising) from Boston to Bogata!

And please consider a donation to “Fund A Need” for Maestro Shafer’s last season: help us make next season a very special one as we honor Bob's distinguished career and service to music with a grand final concert, a special event, and a memorable gift.

The Live Auction will take place over Zoom at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 20. Some of the most exciting auction items will be on the block during the Live Auction, and Buy-A-Line winners will be announced. As a very special treat, we will be sharing never-before-released clips from City Choir’s unforgettable 2013 Diamond Jubilee concert at Washington National Cathedral!
